3b and 3c

 BBC one idents all include in some way the shape circle for example one of their idents for the channel uses the animation of Hippos swimming in the formation of a circle this was released in 2009. The circle symbolises the show being national as the channel is showed in numbers of other countries, another thing continuous all idents is the position of the logo, the BBC one logo is placed in the middle of the screen where the formation of the circle surrounds it. Therefore, the theme of the suite is circles. This theme appeals the to the audience as they feel equality this is because the symbolism of the circle means that they accept all demographics and people from all backgrounds targeting everyone to watch their show. 

Looking at the idents from BBC i feel that they target a range of people because all show different interests such as programmes about nature, sport, etc. This infers that they create their idents to appeal to more than one sector of the audience and try to show that their channel has a lot to other to their audience. 
The idents are all very creative and imaginative making them interesting to watch creating entertainment for the audience. The idents are likely to be seen during the mid day this is because the content of the channel is suitable for those who are at home watching TV mainly elderly pensioners who will spend their day watching the TV, rather than children who would be more interested in programmes that involve children and that are child friendly. Most of the BBC one idents are quite colourful and attractive making the channel more enjoyable to watch. The company will have successfully created brand loyalty because they have stayed with the theme being circles for their idents since their very first ident in 1969. This makes their audience want to continue to watch their channel as they have stayed with their original identity knowing of their content.

In this ident they used dogs running in the formation of a circle appealing to the nation of dog lovers this is another creative idea used in the ident to show their theme. The grass location makes the ident appear vibrant.

vi. Looking at the suite of idents some idents will be shown on TV based on the season or event such as the olympics, or the season such as autum or summer we notice this in the first ident of the kents this ident is mainly grey and cloudy meaning that the season would be autumn. All the idents made by BBC one would be shown on the TV during the day suitable for all ages.

vii. The BBC one suite of idents convey the channels identity of being creative as the ideas for the idents are all very creative in the way they are create the circle in different aspects for example the men on the bikes driving in a circle, the animation of the hippos and more, also through the design of the idents it tells the audience about the brand identity being audience friendly as the idents include a range of seasons which change over the year.

viii. The design of the suite of idents isn't that effective when showing visual information they don't give the audience an understanding of the content of the programmes on their channel.However the visuals of the idents appear outgoing inferring the programmes will consist of out going events such as sports etc.

ix.The design of the suite such as the typography is formative we known this because the style of the font bold and simple making it easy to read for viewers, also the pace of each ident is quite slow especially during the formation of the circle this could mean by the pace being so slow could appeal better to an older audience as they have quick attention spans and are able to watch the ident to see what they have to offer from the channel.

Each ident lasts for a minimum of 30 seconds the longest one being 40 seconds. Meaning that the idents are quickly paced so that the idents are able to grab the audience attention and make them entertained. 

This ident has used two bikers to create the formation of a circle appearing to those of interest to the sport mainly by men.

Questions 1 and 2 (My work)

The theme for BBC One is circles where each ident is seen to have the formation of a circle similarly to the BBC three ident where they have Incorporated the world which is the shape of a circle. Making them both very creative and imaginative. However the difference between the two is that the ident for BBC three is animation and BBC one is not. The is also another similarity between the BBC one idents and the ident from Sky sports this is because they both have the theme of britishness in common, seen in the colours of red, white and blue which makes the British flag however the idents of BBC one doesnt include these colours but show britishness through their locations that are within the London area inferring that their channel is British related. The suite of idents for film four involves the most differences from the rest as their theme for their idents is historical, also their idents include short clips of programmes from their channel making their idents short films for the audience to get an understanding of what the content of their channel is.Whereas the other idents dont this in their idents. The idents from BBC three and BBC one have many aspects in common as they are from the same company they also have the same target audience of young people, even thought the target audience from BBC one ranges from 21-40. Young people are interested in watching both channels as they have the interests for young people who enjoy entertainment such as drama shows but also sports like football.

In conclusion, I do believe that it is very important when it comes to having an suite of idents for the broadcaster because they need to consider the time of day of when the content is going to be shown to the audience since the idents are meant to interpret this in a way. So this does help the audience gain a greater understanding of how the schedule works during the day like for example: for the Film4 ident, they start showing content during the evening so this does mean that the broadcaster is going to be showing more adult films who are 18+ rather than children since it will be unsuitable for them to watch at all due to the end of watershed hours where it is set during the day.
