What is a hook? 

Hooks are used in stories to draw the reader in, also to engage the audience making them feel more interested and entertained. Hooks are what makes the story good without it the audience may feel bored and less interested in the story.

Through my research I have discovered the most who enjoy watching horrors and thrillers are the ages of 18 and above, the younger audience would not be interested as they would not enjoy the genre based on the graphics and the fear they may have whilst watching the film.

The short film captive was one of the films which influenced me for my own short film. The idea of being captured and tortured really interested me as the audience as it made me feel tensed and confused and this show i would like my target audience to feel whilst watching my short film. However in this film the man was being tortured by a ghost which i wanted to change making my film being more realistic using a real life man as i feel this is more engaging for the audience.





Looking at the comments i notice the audience like to see close ups and jump cuts in films as it gives them the sense of atmosphere whilst watching it feeling suspended and scared as what a thriller should make you feel when watching.
                       

  Pitch

My idea was influenced by the film 50 shades of grey which is based on a film of sexual nature, the main character in the film called Christian Grey also known as Mr grey enjoys feeling dominant towards women. He feels the need to hurt women using weapons on them such as swipes and chains to make him feel pleasured. This influenced me too come up with my idea of a female being tortured by a male for his physical pleasure. The start of the film will be based on a young lady who is suddenly woken up alone in a room with blood covering her face and body unknowing of what is happening or where so is feeling very confused and tensed. She realize that she has been captured and in ways tortured.

Time

Timing is very important and must be stuck to there will be given deadlines to those such as camera crew the characters and so on all on the same time of the production. If it comes down to deadlines being not met them producers will be loosing out on money as well as having to spend extra buying time to spend on the production to complete. I will be mostly filming on the weekends this is due to me having more time on the weekends spend for the production.

Budget

The budget for my film will remain low as we are not using money for things such as camera, lighting this is because we will be given equipment for free from our college. Also we are using natural ligh

Location

The location I have choose will be in a car park the reason for this is because i like the setting and the atmosphere that is has making the location being very quite and mysterious that makes the audience feel more engaged as they watch to see what will happen ?. The main idea for the location is for it to be abandoned so for this it may have to be filmed at night or during the week when its not as busy then on the weekend.

Mood board
